Maple Pecan Oatmeal

This is one of the fifteen oatmeal options that I included in my new book, Choices Coach: Weight Loss Menu Guide.  Maple syrup is in season in the Spring so skip the pre-flavored oatmeal packets, and make your own.  I promise you it tastes much better this way.  Plus it is so delicious that your kids will love it too.  Just make sure you use real Maple syrup.  Pancake syrup doesn't have enough maple flavor, and it is often just high fructose corn syrup.

I like my oatmeal to be the consistency of cookie batter so I never use as much water as the instructions call for, but you can always add more water to suit your preference.

Ingredients

1/3 cup Quick Oats or 1 Plain Instant Oatmeal Packet
2 tsp. Maple Syrup
2 tsp. Brown Sugar
5 Candied Pecans, chopped
1/4 cup Boiling Water (or more to taste)

Directions

Add the boiling water to the instant oats and mix.  Top with the remaining ingredients.

Total Calories: 215

Enjoy!

Not "THAT" Blue Dress

Pale Blue for Spring 2015

Pale blue is trending for Spring 2015.  The Vince Camuto A-line Crepe Dress, $148 at Nordstrom, is my favorite pick in the pale blue hue.  The dress can be styled many different ways making it a versatile blank canvas to showcase jewelry.  Plus this classic silhouette can be worn for many seasons to come long after the pale blue trend is over.

I came up with two different looks for this dress.  First we have the edgy, sophisticated look featured above.  The spikes give the outfit an edge without going too punk.  The second look is pretty and delicate.  I love rose gold for Spring, and I also think it works against every skin tone.  In contrast to bold statement jewelry, it is refreshing to layer just a few delicate necklaces.  The pink patent clutch and pumps play well with the rose gold.  In addition, the fleshtone shade of the pumps elongates the legs.

Pale Blue Dress

If pale blue is not your color, then don't chase after the trend.  You can always substitute your LBD with either of these two looks, or choose another basic dress in a shade that compliments your skin tone.  We want people to notice the woman wearing the dress, not just the dress.

Choices Coach: Weight Loss Menu Guide

I am excited and proud to announce that my book is finally finished!

Have you found it difficult to adhere to a diet? Are you tired of counting calories or tracking points? This is an easy meal planning guide to help you make better choices whether you are dining out or eating at home. Choices Coach takes the guesswork out of planning low-calorie meals. There are no complicated rules. All you have to do is choose meals from the menu provided. The calorie counting has already been done for you.

Here is a sample excerpt:

"I have written this book to make calorie counting less of an issue. The book can be used as a tool to plan your meals. Imagine that this book is your selected menu when dining out. The key is to plan ahead and make healthier choices. I recommend planning three meals per day plus one or two snacks. If you are trying to lose weight, then limit yourself to one snack until you reach your goal weight.  If you are working out vigorously, then definitely add the second snack to keep up your energy.

How does it work?  There is a calorie budget set for each meal of the day.  Then I have supplied several meal choices that fall within that budget."
